I interviewed Sanderb95 over google docs. Edited where google screwed up AFAIK
Doxxed or anon?
I'm not doxxed. I just don't feel the need right now because I'm mainly just going through discord and Twitter for any type of interaction and engagement with the community that I want to visit. I have no problem with doxxing especially for the people within the Communities that I support.
What’s the story behind your favorite NFT?
So yeah I think currently my favourite NFT piece, which unfortunately I don't own, are by Tommy Wilson. I think one is called “A kid can dream” and another one is called “Burnout” I think those related to me because of some work-related setbacks I had the last year and I think especially the artwork “a kid can dream” and “burnout” spoke to me. The art shows this young kid in a big city being overwhelmed and not really knowing what to do and I think that just related to me and because it related to me so much it quickly became my favourite NFT.
In terms of NFT’s I own I think rektguy by osf has to be one of my favourite. I just like the meme behind it, I like the community which has brought a lot to me the last year so I think it has to be one of my favourites I'm currently holding.
If money were no object, which NFT would you buy?
This is a tough one because I feel like there's a difference between NFTs that are good from an investment perspective and there are NFTs that are good just from an art and holders perspective. If I talk about NFTs that I would get from an investment perspective I think I will just have to go with BAYC or a punk. I think both of them have a solid company behind it and obviously is one of the biggest in the NFT space right now. And I just feel like they can't really miss in terms of executing their plans. In terms of NFTs that I would get from an art perspective I would have to go with Tommy Wilson since it's like one of my favourite pieces. I think the Alien Queen 1/1's that launched with the rektguy collection are pretty dope so I would definitely pick one of those up and I think I'd buy an Azuki or a Doodle since I believe those are pretty dope as well. As you can see I am having quite some difficulty picking just one. So if I have to pick just one from an investment perspective I think it would be a punk and from an art perspective just because of the feeling I have behind it I would go for a Tommy Wilson piece.
How did you get into the NFT space? What was your journey?
So yeah this is actually a pretty random story because a few years back I started working on social media-related stuff, especially Instagram and I were building up some curator accounts in different niches and I ended up following some luxury accounts, with one of those being Goodlife. It turned out to be an account that Farokh built himself and I pretty much started following him because his Instagram strategy was pretty impressive and he grew a lot of accounts very quickly. I liked his strategy and pretty much everything about the way he worked on Instagram. Then one day he said he would start building out his personal IG account which resulted in me following him as well. So then I just started watching his stories and I slowly saw him moving from Instagram to Clubhouse and then just the NFT story began really and I just started moving around from platform to platform and slowly getting introduced in the NFT world. And just like many, I started thinking like I can just copy-paste the image and the image would be mine as well you know just like pretty much everyone else thought of it at the beginning. But then after a while, I started doing some research and diving deeper into the tech behind it I really started to get interested and see that it's a market that's here to stay.
How much time do you spend in web3? Do you have a day job?
It depends really. I feel like a bullish market gives me more incentive to be here more often and when the bear market started, I started taking a step back to focus on some of my own business-related things. I am pretty much involved within the NFT space on a daily basis. I can be found in discord on a daily basis checking in with the Communities that I support and interacting with them on Twitter as well. I think if I have to summarise, including watching the NFT market and the crypto market I’d say I spend around 2-3 hours a day in web3. And I have to say that in the bull market I think it could be 5-7 hours a day easily. It's just the community aspect of it that really appeals.
I have a company that operates in logistics which is my main business. But I'm also currently working on starting my own marketing agency to Build and Design web pages for other people.
How did you come into Rug Radio and what interests you most?
So I’ve pretty much got into Rug Radio because of Farokh and following his journey on Instagram. I think that the idea behind it appeals to me. the fact that he wanted to build something that people who didn't enjoy their day job could go to, have fun with and earn money with at the same time just really stood out to me. It's like he truly knows the importance of a community and he would build something that would reward the community for supporting him or his ideas. Then when I got in, I was interested in the educational system, the level of expertise that I saw when I started talking to people within the community, tokenomics and DAO structures, topics that I pretty much knew or maybe still don't know a lot about. Rug radio felt like an easy way to get in and to learn more about web3 and everything that evolved around it.
What’s the play? Member pass, Genesis and which one, $RUG or $RDAO?
I think the plays is just get in. I see a lot of people discuss whether should buy a scarce one or scarce two, if they should convert the Rug tokens or not. I have got a little bit of everything; I hold over 10 RDAO’s, a few genesis NFT’s with different scarcity levels, and some unclaimed $RUG. I'd say if people want to start off get a membership pass and if you like the voting structure you can get a DAO, if not just buy some rugs and accumulate some $RUG tokens. I think Scarce 2 gives the best yield if you compare the price to the daily $RUG that you accumulate. It is also crucial for people to check the Syndicate site to see which Genesis NFTs are still unclaimed, since some of them still hold over 1500 rug tokens.
What would you like to see most as Rug Radio evolves?
I would love to see them evolve as a media company and just become the main player in the web3 space in terms of Media, social media, community, and rewarding that community. I would love to see new creators, artists and individuals interact with the ecosystem and build something for themselves because of the help they've received through this ecosystem.
Are you planning to lurk only, or will you build within RR?
Lurking is definitely my comfort zone for now haha. However, a few months ago I pitched an idea within the member's channel on discord regarding some sort of Fiverr-like platform which would enable people to pick their current regular jobs and integrate them with web3 which would help build a name for themselves in web3 and make a living out of it as well. I feel like this resonates with the idea that Farokh has for the ecosystem the best, And also seems like the most short-term method to offer this to the community.
Are you creative? Would you host a show?
I wouldn't say I'm the most creative person but I can be creative in terms of problem-solving and offering a solution to a customer or community. To be honest, doing this interview with you is already pretty out of my comfort zone so I wouldn't see myself hosting a show anytime soon. But who knows, maybe this is the first step I need to take in order for me to truly get out there, out of my comfort zone, and do things that I really want to do in this web3 space.
What tools do you use to find, trade and buy NFTs?
So personally I'm a big fan of flips.finance, which I used to track how collections are moving in terms of pricing, volume, and percentage of holders. I use discord a lot to see what projects people are talking about and to do some research about the founders of a project and the engagement they get. And then once I found a project that I'm interested in I tend to use tools such as raritytools to see if I can get a rare piece around floor price.
What project other than RR currently excites you most?
This has to be the project that osf and mando are currently working on. I think the community has given me a lot of knowledge in terms of crypto and nfts, which is what got me involved with their community in the first place. But the launch of rektguy has been a success and they've been building ever since. And I just support Communities and founders that build during the bear markets, during bull markets, whatever. They have got a new collaboration coming up with Alien Queen who is the co-founder of rektguy. Her art is amazing and yeah I'm really excited to see that drop.
Have you connected with anyone over web3? Who inspires you most?
I haven't really connected with people outside of web3 regarding web3, mainly because most people I mentioned it to to just started laughing and talking about being able to save an image to the desktop and having the same rights as me. So I feel like we are still at the phase of early adopters and I don't really feel like using all of my time to try and convince my friends of joining the web 3 space. I have connected a lot with people within the web3 community. I could say that I've made a lot of online friends who have similar interests in crypto art and nfts. Especially some members that are from the Netherlands just like I am that just give that extra connection and I start talking with a few Dutch people from different Communities which has been really fun. To be honest this journey has just been about vibing with other people with similar interests trying to figure out this new wave and enjoying the process along the way
Insert random comment here?
Yeah, I just wanted to quickly tell you guys [Rug Radio Rag] thanks for being so involved in the Rug Radio community. The fact that you guys, and a lot of other people within the community are doing this just goes to show how much potential this ecosystem and in particular the rug radio ecosystem has. And yeah if there's anything you guys need help with just shoot me a message and I'll see if I can help.
